Skills:
3D arts:
• Use of all standard hand tools for manipulating a variety of materials including wood, plaster, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, resin, epoxy, fiberglass, plastics, a variety of fired and non-fired clays, wax, wire, glass, stone, and other materials
• Use of all standard power tools to manipulate the same materials listed above
• Use of stationary and bench tools to manipulate the same materials listed above
• Use of furnaces, forges and welders (mig, tig, and oxy-acetylene) to manipulate, cast and combine a variety of metal materials including steel, bronze and aluminum
• Use of kilns for high-fire and low-fire clay work
• Understanding of the use of a variety of finishing materials for 3D work including paint, epoxy, patinas, sealants, oils/varnishes, glazing, airbrushing, polishing, sandblasting, etching, oxidizing and more.
• Clear understanding of the protocols and procedures to safely operate a variety of 3D studio spaces
• The ability to cast a variety of materials using a variety of mold-making processes and materials.
• Tool and equipment safe maintenance and repair for most common equipment and a high level of mechanical competence.
• Use of vacuum formers
• An understanding of the skills to handle installation work in both architectural and natural environments.
• An understanding of common display methods for 3d work in a variety of gallery environments
• Extensive experience with 3D studio safety protocols including but not limited to OSHA standards, lockout tags, Haz-waste containment, and tools safety procedures and documentation.
2D arts:
• Understanding and use and application of a variety of painting mediums
• Understanding of the use of a variety of printmaking methods and presses, including lithography, screen printing, monotype, aquatint and etching
• Understanding and use of a variety of different drawing mediums
• Understanding of and use of a variety of different photographic methods including digital, b&w film development, color film development, b&w film enlarging, and a variety of alternative chemical processes
• Understanding of photographic studio lighting
• Understanding of photographic lighting in nature
Digital Arts:
• Use of a variety of digital arts programs and OS, including but not limited to:
o Photoshop, Illustrator, Fusion 360, Blender, Maya, Solidworks, Zbrush, Premier, After effects Audacity, MSP/jitter, Indesign, Procreate, Cura, Prusa slicer, A variety of other slicers, Windows, Linux, Mac OS, iOs, Adroid, etc
• Use of a variety of resin and FDM 3D printers
• Use of a variety of microcomputers, physical computing, basic robotics systems, and basic programming languages
• Digital video and image processing and manipulation
• Circuit bending and electronics manipulation
• Sensor manipulation and haptic systems for installation and sculpture
• Laser cutting, cnc, cnc routers, vinyl cutters, a variety of different printers for a multitude of materials, and other digital manufacturing and materials manipulation equipment
